I was finding pictures on the internet for IT today, and I ended up on a blog post by someone, and they were saying how they were getting addicted to chocolate recently but they didn't like chocolate all that much, and that they guessed it was like Diet Coke beacuse they had a massive addiction to Diet Coke but they actually hated Diet Coke.

It made me realise that I am not the only one with irrational obsessions, and that therefore I am not alone in the world. It was nice. :P

Also, my school blocks stuff on their internet . . . and if you try to go to a blcoked page, it will tell you the page is blocked and it will give a reason why, like "Blogs and social media."
Well, my friend clicked on a picture today, and it took her to a blocked page, and do you know why it said the page was blocked?
Because it contained 'educational content'. :P

Idek. XD

Osmosis.

Dammit, I was just getting over my fangirling. :P

You know when you're doing maths homework and you're just like "I cannot be bothered to do this"?

(Gahhh so bored!)

Star Inkbright said...

If you're bored, try doing homework; better for it to ruinthe moments of boredom than the moments when you actually have something better to do. :)

Savannah said...

(I've done all the homework I can do...)

I've lost my protractor . . .

@Seir: :( Lucky you . . .

Try reading a book, listening to music, finding YouTubers. :) Drawing a picture, writing something random.

*hugs Star*

I find biology harder, though. :P

Also, I like how much they got/get WRONG, in physics
Like, they spent the entire 18th century -after Newton decided light must be particles- trying to convince everybody that light was in fact WAVE, not a particle. Which was followed by 'shit no it IS a particle'
followed by 'idk man it's both'

And it's like
if you get something wrong, or you don't understand it
It seems like nobody actually really understands most of this stuff
And chances are it'll probably turn out to be untrue anyway.

Which is kind of comforting. :P

And- :/
Bad teachers = bad :(

@Sophia: :/

@Star: *laughs* :P

Star Inkbright said...

@Zaf: IKR.

@Taia: I don't know how you possibly can . . . ? What's hard about biology? :P

And, yeah. :) I think we're always searching to get closer to The Truth, except there is no one Truth. Truth is individual.

I think now is a good time for a Stormlight Archive quote. Hang on. :P

Star Inkbright said...

I think most people do, Chi. :(

Star Inkbright said...

Okay, maybe it's time for an extract as opposed to a quote. :P

Jasnah took the book from beanth her arm and set it on the bed beside Shallan. "This is for you."
Shallan picked it up. She opened to the front page, but it was blank. The next one was as well, as were all inside of it. Her frown deepened, and she looked up at Jasnah.
"It's called the Book of Endless Pages," Jasnah said.
"Er, I'm pretty sure it's not endless, Brightness." She flipped to the last page and held it up.
Jasnah smiled. "It's a metaphor, Shallan. Many years ago, someone dear to me made a very good attempt at converting me to Vorinism. This was the method he used."
Shallan cocked her head.
"You search for truth," Jasnah said, "but you also hold to your faith. There is much to admire in that. Seek out the Devotary of Sincerity. They are one of the very smallest of the devotaries, but this book is their guide."
"One with blank pages?"
"Indeed. They worship the Almighty, but as guided by the belief that there are always more answers to be found. The book cannot be filled, as there is always something to learn. This devotary is a place where one is never penalized for questions, even those challenging Vorinism's own tenets." She shook her head. "I cannot explain their ways. You should be able to find them in Vedenar, though there are none in Kharbranth."

. . .
I love the concept of the Book of Endless Pages. I love it.

Commander Sophia Keating (N7 Operative and Council Spectre) said...

(I am back.

I dedicate this page to Jaimie and Star.)

Star Inkbright said...

Also, while we're at it, I might as well type out the next few sentences because great quotes.

"I . . ." Shallan trailed off, noticing how Jasnah's hand rested fondly on the book. It was precious to her. "I hadn't thought to find ardents who were willing to question their own beliefs."
Jasnah raised an eyebrow. "You will find wise men in any religion, Shallan, and good men in every nation. Those who truly seek wisdom are those who will acknowledge the virtue in their adversaries and who will learn from those who disabuse them of error. All otehrs - heretic, Vorin, Ysperist, or Maakian - are equally closed-minded." She took her hand from the book, moving as if to stand up.
"He's wrong," Shallan said suddenly, realizing something.
Jasnah turned to her.
"Kabsal," Shallan said, blushing. "He says you're researching the Voidbringers because you want to prove that Vorinism is false."
Jasnah sniffed in derision. "I would not dedicate four years of my life to such an empty pursuit. It's idiocy to try and prove a negative. Let the Vorin believe as they wish - the wise amoung them will find goodness adn solace in their faith; the fools would be fools no matter what they believed."

. . .
Jasnah is so wise.

Star Inkbright said...

Thank you, Sophia. :) *hugs*

Star Inkbright said...

Anyway.
*turns back to maths*

Star Inkbright said...

This guy in my maths paper has this pond that's the shape of this deep, not-too-wide cuboid with a section sliced off the bottom (like, the section sliced off being a trirangle prism and chopping the cuboid in half at one side and notchopping into it at the other side).
Storms
why
how pointless is that
it's a POND, not a storming SWIMMING POOL. :P

Star Inkbright said...

He's now going to pump the water out of his pond so he can clean it.
What the actual fuck.
One does not pump out ponds to clean them. Ponds have fish in and tadpools in and that kind of shit. Also, ponds are MEANT to be green and weird. You don't CLEAN THEM OUT why.
I just -
idek.
Plus, who would even bother?

sorry for vanishing. had to go eat suddenly

and now wbd because I was mentally agreeing with Star about maths homework and 'I can't be bothered', which reminded me I had stats homework. :P

And also, on I 'better for it to ruin the moments of boredom', that's a very nice approach. Will be committing it to memory. :P

@Star (biology): Um. I don't know. There's a lot to know, with biology. There's a lot to understand, but it's a different type of understanding and it's difficult to... understand. idk. It's not understanding how and why, it's understanding the thing that happens and other things that happen, but without the how and why, kind of. idk. It's a different direction and it's hard to follow.
And hard to follow = hard to focus = hard to do the thing

Kind of??

Commander Sophia Keating (N7 Operative and Council Spectre) said...

(This is something that I have wanted to say for a while, but I have never actually considered it, in a sense? But now I have the urge to say so.

Admittedly, I am a rather extreme person. In most senses. There are few things I am not extreme about.
One of the things that could considered extreme about me is my stance on violence. I am, in many senses, a violent person. The amount of people who I have killed is in the thousands. But... I have a very particular opinion about how violence should be portrayed.
There are many things - books, films, games, most forms of media, actually - which present violence in a way that I do not agree with.
It is not something to be laughed about, or something to be done for entertainment. Violence is a serious matter.
Yes, you may laugh when a character cracks a joke in a story - but would you be laughing if someone killed someone who you would know, such as a family or friend, then joke about their demise?
I rather think not.
And what would you think of someone who would watch someone dying for entertainment? Because that is exactly what you are doing when you are watching a film.
I think that, if violence is to be portrayed in a book, film or game, et cetera, it needs to be in a way that shows violence for what it is - cruel, and messy.
And that is one of the reasons why I do not like Skulduggery Pleasant. Because the portrayal of violence in the books is something which I consider wrong. And whilst the author may not condone violence, the book certainly seems to do so. If people were truly against violence, why would they read a book which presents it in a comedic fashion?)

Star Inkbright said...

@Taia: Ah, I get that. :) Okay.
I have a biology teacher who gives us metaphors about stuff(the reasons neves have myelin sheaths is to insulate them so the signals don't get confused - like, pretend the classrooms are the nerves and the walls are the mylein sheaths - if the classrooms had no walls, it would be really noisy and you wouldn't be able to hear the lesson as clearly as all the lessons would sort of overlap. He also explained osmosis using the London riots :P), so I guess it's easier for us to get. :)

Thank you, Sophia, I suppose.

@Taia: C: I'm pleased my extract impressed you. C:

Idk, the extracts always seem weird and less cool when I copy them out, so it's great to know that apparently they still seem cool to other people. :)

Star Inkbright said...

@Seir: Sophia's Dragona's character. Although I don't like phrasing it like that because it makes it sound like Sophia is less real but she is real and meh.

Star Inkbright said...

Chione Asahina said...

Yeah. Draggie was one of the first people I met when I came on the blog...
I loved that gen so much.
We hardly even went on the blog xD
That's why my first comments are so hard to find...We went on the xan chatroom every night.

Mary Contrary said...

@Star(pond): xD
If you NEVER cleaned it, starting again probably isn't a bad idea?
I mean, we have a pond which you can't actually SEE any more, because, overgrowth. Like, if you didn't know it was there you'd walk right into it and probably end up drowning. Or, you'd sink very slowly, because it turned to swamp. We don't know what's down there any more. No frogs, at least.
There's also a cleaner one - not clean, but cleaner, better maintained, which has a lot of wildlife (still no fish, though, they got eaten).
If we wanted to get Swampy-Yuck-Invisible pond into Wildlife-Cool pond, it'd probably need pumping and whatnot.

So it might be justifiable. I don't know. Depends what they want their pond to look like? :)

*hugs everyone*

Star Inkbright said...

"Doesn't that bother you?" Kaladin asked. "That you might be a creation of human perception?"
"You're a creation of your parents. Who cares how we were born? I can think. That's good enough."

Star Inkbright said...

@Taia: . . .
good point.
:P
Okay you win on the cleaning front. But WHY IS IT SUCH AN AWKWARD PRISM SHAPE???

Mary Contrary said...

... That's a good point, Sophia. I'll think on that. Thank you. :)

@Star: Oh, that's cool. *nods* It probably does depend a lot on teachers, tbh. :)

Star Inkbright said...

@Star: That last quote voices my feelings about existence very well. :) :) :)

And- xD
OK, I can't answer that one. :P

Not bad. Not quite Legion, but that's still roughly a hundred times the average platform.

Commander Sophia Keating (N7 Operative and Council Spectre) said...

Liliana: Why?

Bethany: They're all... lacy.

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Onwa: You were just trapped in Lorelei's head.

Yup. Ohhh...nice.
*starts searching through, looking for underwear for herself*

Commander Sophia Keating (N7 Operative and Council Spectre) said...

Liliana: It was only for a short time.

Bethany: They're prettier than the normal white ones I have...

John said...

Interesting. As you may have reasoned I've been doing a bit of research, but there are some things I'd like to ask you. Why did the Geth initially oppose their creators instead of simply allowing themselves to be destroyed? Did sentience instill you with a sense of self-preservation, an organic concept?

Jai (Silente Tempest - St Of Sinners) said...

Onwa: still..

Mm.. your white underwear is still pretty..
*choses a few matching sets for herself, adding them to the pile, hiding them under some jeans because not all are regular styles*

John said...

I am very happy that I have that much extra put away for later use, what I am not happy about is the fact that I was denied the opportunity to use it how I had planned. The work seems like it was all for naught.

Dragona Pine said...

We did not want to be rendered non-functional. This could be considered an organic concept.

Got ya.

*And with that he fades into the shadows*

Chione Asahina said...

Hello grimm.

I...really have to go to sleep.

I met him once. I only took the 1st book to the 6th book signing a I didn't want to be that annoying person with every single book (Trip :3)
And I was one of the first in the queue so I would have pissed a lot of people off.

Aretha prefers to be called by her taken name simply because she chose it for herself. In addition to that, she has come to associate it heavily with this place. She feels it suits her.

I also happen to feel that my taken name suits me quite well, and I have effectively disowned my given name. I would not want anyone to call me by it, regardless of how comfortable I felt around them.

Fabi S. - Fashion-Conscious Fire Wraith said...

I met him over Skype as well. I know that makes me one of the luckier Ameriminions, but I'd still love to go to a signing, like, irl. Maybe apologize for how much of an annoying idiot I was over Skype. XD

Trip Castalan, Lord of The Hobbits, The Fourth Most Popular Folk/Parody Banana Thief In The Land said...

Hi Zaf. How's stuff?

Fabi *hugs* Hey. Car parks aren't too bad. You can learn a lot about people from their cars, you can learn and stuff.

Hey, Fabi! *hugs* How are you?

I'm okay, Jubi. Nothing to complain about.

Trip Castalan, Lord of The Hobbits, The Fourth Most Popular Folk/Parody Banana Thief In The Land said...

Exactly, All. I feel like my name here just is Trip, and anything else is a bit uncomfortable. A bit like when I first heard someone call me Trip out loud.

Sorry. I should be heading to sleep. I've got stuff to do tomorrow. Gotta visit the bank so if I find a job money can actually come into my account.

Good night!

I'm Jubilance Glee / Occasional Haiku-er / And a dinosaur said...

How on earth do they make these phones so damn smart? Is it witchcraft? I suppose that's the only reasonable explanation....

It is. Apple factories are so secretive not because they want to protect their patents, but so the general public never finds out about the *the lighting suddenly shines from the floor, making spoooky shadows on Trip's face* BLOOD SACRIFICES! *lightening cracks in the distance*

Oh, sorry Tia, missed your comment. (I'm pretty bad.)

Sleep well. Hopefully they won't eat up too much of your time.

My phone's deciding to be really laggy so whenever I type the letters don't show up but the cursor thingy moves like it would if there WERE letters showing up and whenever I stop typing I have to wait for it to catch up and it's annoying

Trip Castalan, Lord of The Hobbits, The Fourth Most Popular Folk/Parody Banana Thief In The Land said...

Oh good, Zaf. And the gerbils?

Fabi S. - Fashion-Conscious Fire Wraith said...

I would not particularly like to be known by my given name though.

Like, the whole pointe of taking a name is that it fits you more.

...

I told the person at the smoothie place my name was Tanith. I usually do that when ordering food, because I'm weird like that,

Hello, Alastair.

What? No, of course not, Trip!

Admittedly not one of these sharpies is rainbow by itself, but together they are and they have the power to DESTROY THE UNIVERSE

or doodle smiley faces

SO THERE

They're fine, I guess. They're sleeping currently.

Fabi S. - Fashion-Conscious Fire Wraith said...

[Sings a gerbil lullaby that consists mostly of squeaks and knocking things over]

Trip Castalan, Lord of The Hobbits, The Fourth Most Popular Folk/Parody Banana Thief In The Land said...

*looks off into the distance*

You have not seen the futures I have cryptic one.

The futures where the world burns. Where your great glass towers are reduced to naught, your armies to ash, and your hopes to stardust.

You have not seen the times when the rainbow Smiley's will come. The ti!me the world will truly end.

Trip Castalan, Lord of The Hobbits, The Fourth Most Popular Folk/Parody Banana Thief In The Land said...

Voles see infrared, and rats use their spines to assist movement by moving it like a caterpillar's body.

Fabi S. - Fashion-Conscious Fire Wraith said...

Hello Elleni!

I know Fabi's true name, and the true names of a few of my other characters. I don't know mine, though, or what it would be. I don't think I want to know.

I know people know Trip's true name, but I'm don't. I can't settle on one, basically.
